How to Protect Yourself From eBay and Paypal Scam Emails
Ebay and Paypal scammers have been around since eBay began. Unfortunately they will continue to find ways to steal information from unsuspecting eBayers. It is my hope that this series of 3 videos will prevent you from falling victim to these scams. There is no reason to be afraid of doing business on eBay; as long as you know how to detect these fraudulent emails and the proper precautions to take.
I have been meaning to put these videos together for quite some time now. I finally sat down and did it. It took me an entire Saturday as working with video is pretty new to me..BUT I am very happy with the end result.
This 3 video series will show you actual emails that "scammers" sent to me in hopes that I would unknowingly give them my eBay ID and password. I walk you through the tactics that these thieves use to try to steal your information and I show you exactly how I detect these scam emails.
I wanted to put the actual videos right here on the blog for you, but they were far too large so I had to put each video on it's own page. Here are the links to the 3 videos.

As you stated these scams have been around a long time. However, I have never seen any that I could not easily see through. I would hope that eBay would take these things a bit more serious and prosecute those involved a more vigorously and then PUBLIZE the fact they took these dirtbags out. I know eBay says they are doing what they can, but the plain fact is they need to do better because many many people will not do business through eBay because they do not want wrapped up in this sort of nonsense.

Dan,
I completely agree. It would be nice if eBay would do more to prevent these sorts of scams. Unfortunately, for the most part we eBayers have to take the responsibility of making sure we do not become victims. Many of these scams are not easy to see through on the surface; especially for a new eBayer or someone who is not an experienced computer user.
My one golden rule is to never sign into your eBay account through a link in an email. Always go directly to www.ebay.com and sign in there. This virtually eliminates the risk of you falling victim to one of these scams.

Chris, I agree 100%. Problem is, evidently, that many people are simply too lazy to log into their eBay account. eBay has stressed in various ways to be extremely careful about answering any messages outside of the eBay system. Well, at least you are trying to educate the folks and this is good.

Thanks for the info as I am real new to this internet stuff, but not new to life, I have seen some of this kind of con-artist hype in the Hotel and Restaurant business, Thanks again for the heads-up.
